The General Manager reports directly to the Board of Directors and is generally responsible for event and facility promotion, membership recruitment, staffing, communication with membership and social media as well as the day-to-day operations of the facility which includes overseeing the pro shop. You will be required to do the daily cash reconciliation for the bar and take in the deposit.
General Duties
Promote leagues, events, bonspiels and maintain active ongoing communication with members via newsletters, social media, emails.
Update website as required.
Organize and manage club hosted events and leagues including creation of draws and schedules, as well as all community rentals.
Coordinate with the Ice Technical and city to ensure proper maintenance.
Attend Board meetings with a prepared manager and financial reports.
Implement approved policies and by-laws.
Overseeing of bar, pro shop, kitchen and ice operations.
Organize and execute weekly 50/50, including obtaining and closing licenses in accordance with AGLC.
Collect and receive income from all sources, manage bank deposits, year-round, while working in concert Treasurer to ensure accuracy of accounting records.
Build and maintain positive rapport with club curlers, staff, event organizers, facility leasers, sponsors, service suppliers, community stakeholders, AGLC, neighbouring clubs, and Curling Alberta.
Education and Experience
Minimum of 2 years’ experience with customer service, supervisor and/or management experience.
Experience in general computer software plus social media.
Personable individual with strong public relations and communication skills.
Hold a valid preserve or willingness to obtain one.
Knowledge of curling club operations and the sport of curling is considered an asset.
Skilled in Microsoft Office and social media posting.

This is a seasonal position from August 1 – April 15. The candidate must be willing to work a combination of days, evening and weekends. Event weekend require long hour and often run Friday through Sunday with approximately 12 events on the schedule this season. Offering $25,000 for the season and $800 stipend to be paid in August for summer coverage. You will be eligible to claim EI in the off season. Salary negotiable based on experience.
