Curling Alberta has reviewed the upcoming event categories with our guiding principle to curl only when it is safe and responsible to do so in mind. As a result, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the U20, senior men’s and women’s and the mixed doubles provincial qualifiers outright. Although this may be disappointing, we are pleased to report that the provincial championships in these categories are still expected to proceed as planned. The qualification process is still to be determined and will be announced as soon as possible.
“Although it is disappointing, we hope that this announcement will provide some clarity for curlers” said Jill Richard, Curling Alberta’s Executive Director. “We did not make this decision lightly, but as well as the collective interests of our communities and local curling clubs are our priorities. We are thankful for the ongoing support of our host clubs, volunteers, and curlers for their understanding as we continue to pivot.”
