Unfortunate news today, as the Sport, Physical Activity and Recreation (SPAR) Branch of Culture and Status of Women have made the decision not to proceed with the 2022 Alberta Winter Games.
Given the time required to prepare for an Alberta Winter Games, the prolonged effect of COVID-19, and the number of sport events that have been cancelled or postponed, the decision was made to return to Alberta Winter Games planning when appropriate in the future. SPAR wants to assure you that the cancellation is not an indication that the Alberta Winter or Summer Games are not continuing in the future. This decision was not budget related.
