Head Ice Technician

Reports to:
The Head Ice Technician will communicate directly with the General Manager and in his absence the Board of Directors.

Position Overview:
The Head Ice Technician oversees the day-to-day operations of the ice area at the Granite Curling Club, serving as a key
representative and the face of the club. This role is essential in ensuring that all services related to ice management are
executed effectively and that all interactions reflect the welcoming and professional atmosphere of the club.

Key Responsibilities:
 Prepare the concrete surface for ice installation.
 Install ice, including measurements, flooding, and painting.
 Maintain ice quality through regular washing and scraping.
 Oversee repairs and maintenance of ice-related equipment.
 Perform maintenance on the physical facility and its various components, including walkways, dividers, the plant
room, and surrounding grounds, encompassing all aspects of the building’s structure.
 Hire and schedule ice staff to ensure adequate coverage while adhering to a set budget guideline.
 Remove ice in the spring, ensuring all equipment is cleaned and stored properly for the summer.
 Train new ice staff and evaluate their work performance.
 Serve as the acting General Manager in their absence by answering phones, taking messages, interacting with
visitors, and resolving issues as needed, while embodying a positive attitude and excellent customer service.
 Perform janitorial duties such as maintaining the ice surface, emptying waste bins, dusting and wiping surfaces,
mopping floors, cleaning restroom fixtures, checking and refilling supplies, cleaning lobby area, managing lost
and found items, and cleaning equipment and facilities.
 Manage general upkeep of the club’s outdoor areas during the appropriate seasons.
 Remove snow from walkways and entrances to ensure safe access for members and visitors.
 Confirm and obtain approval for any spending, ensuring financial oversight is in place
