TransRockies have a gravel biking event (The Range) coming to Claresholm during the weekend of July 18-20 and we’re looking for volunteers to help out! As a thank you, we are interested in offering a donation to your curling teams/organization/group.
Our online sign up form can be found here: volunteersignup.org/JR4Q8
Shift time are indicated on the sign up form, but if someone wanted to volunteer more or less, they definitely can.
Some positions include:
Registration/Package Pick-Up – Friday July 18 will be the busiest day for this. In this position we’ll be under a tent, handing out bike number plates, timing chips, and event t-shirts. We have another shift for this on Saturday morning as well.
Course Marshals – These positions are very important to the success of the event! There are multiple stations/corners throughout the course where the racers will be crossing paths/fire roads/etc and they need direction. This person will be outside for their entire shift. I would recommend that they bring a camping chair with them, water & some snacks, and be dressed for the weather (maybe even include a sun umbrella). People are encouraged to work in teams of 2.
Aid Station – There are 3 aid stations on course. These positions require the volunteer to manage snacks, and water jugs for the riders as they come through. This position is outside (we might have a tent set up, but maybe not). The volunteers for this station will most likely be standing and moving around for the duration of the shift with periods of time available to sit.
Volunteers are asked to bring their own food/snacks & water, however each volunteer will receive lunch from our caterer, and an event t-shirt (and hopefully some swag, odds & ends that we acquire from any sponsors).
If you have any questions that we can answer for you, please reach out to [email protected] . Full event details can be found here: https://thegravelexperience.com/pages/tge-alberta
If you could please circulate this among your members (and/or anyone else you think would be interested) we would greatly appreciate it.
We’re looking forward to spending the weekend in Claresholm from July18-20.
Thanks!
