Curling Alberta is excited to announce that Cassidy Pennington will be joining our team as Program Coordinator. Cassidy will be based in our Calgary satellite office and her first day was May 3rd.
In this position, Cassidy will assist with the development and implementation of a new program called “Ready to Rock” aimed at introducing the sport of curling to youth in underrepresented populations in over 40 curling centres across Alberta. She will assist with volunteer and participant recruitment, as well as the creation of a communication and marketing plan to support the program.
Cassidy recently obtained a Bachelor of Health and Physical Education, with a major in Sport & Recreation Management from Mount Royal University. She has a passion for sports, participating in nearly all the school and community sports programs offered in her small Saskatchewan hometown and hopes to one day be instrumental in making sport more accessible to youth across the country. Since moving to Calgary three years ago, Cassidy has planned and coordinated events at Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame during a summer internship, implemented marketing and communications strategies for Badminton Alberta, and was the Games Coordinator for the 2020 Alberta Winter Games.
