U20 Competitive Men’s Curler Looking to Form or Join a Team

I am looking to start or join a competitive U20 men’s team for the 2024-2025 season onwards. I currently train out of the Saville’s U18 Academy, and I am generally on the ice four to five times a week. I have skipped my high school mixed team to two city championship victories in 2023 and 2024, while earning a silver medal at this year’s provincials. I turn eighteen in April, and I’ll be attending the U of A in Fall 2024. Even though most of my experience is playing back-end, I would be comfortable playing front-end as well. I am willing to make the time and travel efforts required to have a full and successful season.

I am looking to start a competitive U20 women’s team for the 2024/25 year. I currently play for the Red Deer Polytechnic mixed team, in the position of skip. I am looking for 3 more players. I am hoping to get into as many bonspiels as possible, preparing for the U20 provincials.

U15 Curler Looking for Competitive Team

My daughter is looking to join a competitive U15 Girls team starting for the 2024/2025 curling year. She would like to play a front end (as lead or second) if possible. Willing to curl out of any curling club in Calgary or the surrounding area.

Looking to form a U18 Competitive Team

Two dedicated players out of Calgary are looking for an experienced coach and 2 male curlers to form a 2024-2025 U18 competitive curling team.

In the next couple of months we’re looking to get a few practices in with interested curlers to find a team fit.

Starting in late September, Team Clark will be looking to compete in at least two competitive bonspiels per month leading up to the Alberta U18 provincial championships and beyond.

Facility Manager/Ice Technician

The Innisfail Curling Club is looking for a Facility Manager/Ice Technician, the position to start for the 2024-2025 curling season.

The Innisfail Curling Club has a rich history within the local urban and rural communities. It has hosted provincial events and has seen members of the Club compete in provincial, national and world championships.
The Innisfail Curling Club is a four-sheet facility with membership approximately 200 adults and 50 junior curlers. We host 5-6 club bonspiels throughout the season in addition to rental, school usage and other sanctioned events that arise throughout the curling season.

We are looking for a dynamic individual who can not only relate to people in the curling community but with those in the general community to promote our Club and its benefits. Thus, the individual should have a strong commitment to the sport of curling, be outgoing, business-minded and motivated to provide the membership and guests a satisfied and lasting impression of their time in while in our facility.

The selected candidate with report to the Board of Directors with the position starting the fifteenth (15th) of September and run thru to the fifteenth (15th) of April. The time commitment will include weekdays, evenings and some weekends. There may also be some work available during the summer when the club is rented out to various organizations.

As the Facility Manager/Ice Technician you are responsible for the installation and maintenance of the ice for the curling season and the maintenance of the facility.

Responsibilities

FACILITY MANAGER – duties include but not limited to:

Managing the day-to-day operations of the Club;
Opening and closing of the building,
Responding to building alarms.
Monitoring of e-mails, telephone calls/messages and responding to them in a timely fashion,
Updating the Clubs website, with the up-to-date league information (draws/results/standings, Club events, posts and pictures.)
Overseeing the fiscal management of the Club;
Collecting and depositing of the revenue,
Keeping records of financial transactions,
Attend monthly board meetings with financial and operational reports,
Making and advising on decisions for the best interests of the Club,
Creating a membership database;
Create new membership registration file and post the link before each season begins,
Promote growth in membership,
Assist in the planning and publishing of the annual curling schedule and bonspiels with the board,
Build interest in the growth of the sport,
Work to bring new rentals and events to the club,
Reporting on membership requirements to Curling Alberta.
Ensuring that the Club is complaint with relevant laws and regulations;
point of sale systems, insurance, internet, Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission licensing.
Ensuring the cleanliness of the facility, interior and the exterior.

Ice Technician – duties include but are not limited to;

The applicant will have previous ice technician experience (Level I or II Ice Technician certification is an asset).
Installation of the ice surface;
Which may need cleaning of the floor, touch up painting, installation of the lines, sealing, hacks logos and flooding of the floor surface. Preparation and maintenance of high-quality clean ice conditions for league draws, bonspiels and other events in a timely matter.
Cleaning, pebbling, scraping, clipping and temperature monitoring,
Flooding of the ice surface as needed during the season,
Cleaning of the adjoining surfaces next to the ice surface, by sweeping, vacuuming, moping etc.,
Ensure garbage is emptied and stocking of needed supplies.
Needs to be able to work flexible hours depending on the events, daytime, evening league draws and weekend bonspiels.
Monitoring of the ice plant and all ice making equipment, ensuring it is in working condition, by fixing or having problems repaired.
Ensure curling stones are maintained throughout the season.
Attend monthly board meeting with ice facility reports.
At end of season remove the ice surface; clean the floor and surrounding areas and ensure proper storage of the rocks.
Able to identify and forecast future needs in small and capital equipment /replacement/repair/maintenace.
