Curling Alberta is delighted to announce that Sentinel Storage will hold the provincial title sponsor position
for its women’s championship which will be known as the 2020 Sentinel Storage Alberta Scotties
Tournament of Hearts. This flagship event will be hosted in the Murray Arena at the Okotoks Recreation
Centre from January 22-26, 2020. The winning team will go on as Alberta’s representative at the Canadian
Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Moose Jaw, Sask. in February.
“Sentinel Storage is a natural fit as a partner because they understand the importance of supporting local
communities and the events that bring them together,” said Jill Richard, Executive Director of Curling
Alberta. “For us it’s another exciting milestone in the growth and development of this iconic women’s
curling event, and we are truly excited to welcome them on board.”
“We know how passionate and loyal curlers and curling fans are,” said Celeste Blackmore, National
Director of Corporate Partnerships with StorageVault Canada, the parent company of Sentinel Storage,
along with Access Storage, Storage For Your Life and Depotium. “Sentinel Storage is proud to partner
with Curling Alberta because we love sports that are engrained in communities of all sizes. We’re pleased
to support these outstanding athletes and the communities that rally around them.”
From its humble beginnings over 20 years ago, to its growth as the largest storage company in Canada,
the journey for Sentinel Storage has been about keeping the belongings of our communities safe and
secure. With over 200 stores across Canada, there is bound to be a convenient facility near every curling
centre.
Because last year’s provincial champions, Team Carey, went on to win the 2019 Canadian Scotties
Tournament of Hearts, they also won the right to defend their national title in February, removing them
from the field. Already qualified for 2020 Sentinel Storage Alberta Scotties Tournament of Hearts are
teams skipped by Junior World Champion, Kelsey Roque of Edmonton, Kayla Skrlik of Calgary, and
Casey Scheidegger of Lethbridge, who have all pre-qualified based on their Canadian Team Ranking
System or Curling Alberta Excel Points Race performance. Another two spots were claimed by Team
Walker and Team Vaughan at a qualifying event hosted by the Calgary Curling Club in December. The
remaining three spots still open for the eight-team championship will be determined at a qualifying event
hosted at the Jasper Place Curling Club January 10-12, 2020.
Sportsnet will provide national broadcast coverage of the semi-finals and final on Sunday, January 26th
2020. Tickets for the 2020 Sentinel Storage Alberta Scotties Tournament of Hearts are available online at
