COVID-19 Update

March 13, 2020

Curling Alberta and its partners, such as Curling Canada, are monitoring the COVID 19 situation on an ongoing basis.

After careful consideration of the most recent information from Alberta Health Services, Curling Alberta has decided to postpone all remaining courses and sanctioned competitions for 2019-2020 season.  We remain hopeful to reschedule and will share further information as soon as it is available.

Curling Canada has also announced the postponement of the 2020 Canada Inns Canadian Mixed Doubles Curling Championship, Everest Canadian Senior Curling Championships and Canadian Wheelchair Curling Championship.

The World Curling Federation has also made the decision to cancel the Women’s World Curling Championship in Prince George.

Curling Canada has said the 2020 U18 Canadian Curling Championships, in Sudbury, Ont., from April 20-25, will be re-evaluated in the coming days.

The health risk from COVID-19 to the general public is a quickly evolving situation and Curling Alberta feels it is important that our organization plays its role in protecting our curlers and broader communities. We know athletes, fans, and volunteers have been hard at work for months in preparation to compete at the remaining competitions this season and so we understand that there will be disappointment. Please rest assured that Curling Alberta is doing everything it can to keep everyone informed and to avoid any unnecessary health and safety risks. Any new information will be posted as soon as possible.
