Curling Alberta is pleased to announce that Shannon Kleibrink, Olympic bronze medalist, five-time Alberta Scotties Tournament of Hearts Champion, and three-time Canadian Olympic Trials finalist, has been hired as our Director of Community Curling Centre Development. Shannon will be based in our Calgary satellite office, and her first day is October 8th.
In this position, Shannon will have a significant focus on leading curling clubs through return to play and COVID recovery. Over the longer term, she will support curling centres throughout our boundaries to operate effectively and drive increased participation in our sport. Shannon will also work to develop Curling Alberta’s network of partners and assist with advocacy efforts to increase awareness, popularity, and the perceived value of curling in the community.
Shannon is a high-performance consultant for the Canadian Curling Association and holds bachelor’s degree in Physical Education from the University of Calgary. With more than 20 years of professional leadership experience and expertise in facility management and recreation programming, Shannon has established a reputation as a creative problem solver, team builder, and collaborator. As a volunteer within the curling and sport community, she has served as Co-Chair of many high profile events including the 2015 Tim Horton’s Brier and Continental Cup, and has served as President of KidSport Okotoks and as an Olympian representative at five WCF Olympic Celebration Tours in Japan, Spain, Lithuania, Minnesota, and Denver.
