After careful consideration, Curling Alberta has made the difficult decision to cancel the remaining sanctioned competitions and training opportunities for the 2020 – ‘21 season outright. A large part of this decision was a result of the uncertainty in the current pandemic environment and respect for local curling clubs.
“In light of last week’s announcement from our provincial government that current public health restrictions will remain in place with no timeline on any meaningful relaxations, we felt that this is the most responsible decision on behalf of our organization and stakeholders,” commented Jill Richard, Curling Alberta’s Executive Director. “We did not make this decision lightly, but our safety, as well as the collective interests of our communities and local curling clubs are our priorities. In making this decision, we will bolster our support to clubs who are also faced with difficult business decisions and focus on emerging opportunities and preparations for next season with a measure of clarity.”
