Hec Gervais to Sponsor 2023 Alberta U20 Provincial Qualifiers and Championships

January 12, 2023

Curling Alberta is proud to welcome the Hec Gervais Academic & Curling Scholarship Foundation, as the presenting sponsor for the 2023 Alberta U20 Provincial Qualifiers and Championships.

Since 1999, the Hec Gervais Academic & Curling Scholarship Foundation has been helping young athletes pursue post-secondary education while pursuing their curling dreams. The fund was established both to honor “The Friendly Giant’s” many accomplishments and contributions to the curling community, as well as reflect his strong belief in education, competitiveness, and leadership.

“Our partnership stems from a shared commitment to the youth in our community and love for the sport of curling,” said Jill Richard, Executive Director of Curling Alberta. “We are excited to be involved with an organization that is integral in supporting junior curling in Alberta, while simultaneously encouraging leadership and excellence through education.”

To date, over $150,000 in scholarship funds have been paid out to deserving recipients thanks to the governing curling bodies in both Alberta and Saskatchewan, as well as the generous support of the curling community. It is a legacy that Hec Gervais would certainly be proud of. For information about the Hec Gervais Academic and Curling Scholarship foundation, please visit their website.

The Ellerslie Curling Club will welcome Alberta’s top female U20 teams and the Spruce Grove Curling Club will host the U20 males teams on January 24th – 29nd, 2023 for the U20 Alberta Provincial Championship, presented by Hec Gervais. The winners of these championships will go on to represent Alberta in their respective categories at the national championships in March.

Detailed information and scoring updates will be available on the Curling Alberta website and social media as they come available.
