Curling Alberta Announces Partnership with the Kananaskis Nordic Spa

April 5, 2023

Curling Alberta is proud to welcome the Kananaskis Nordic Spa to our partnership team. For the next four competition seasons, they will serve as the title sponsor for the Curling Alberta Masters Provincial Qualifiers and Championships.

With a shared focus on wellness and well-being, the partnership between the two organizations is a natural fit.

“The Kananaskis Nordic Spa is your refuge from the cadence of the modern world. The surrounding alpine scenery provides a sense of calm while you immerse yourself in treatments. Taking care of your body and mind should be simple and feel great.” said Heather Hamilton, VP Sales and Marketing.

Kananaskis Nordic Spa first opened in 2018, making it the first Scandinavian wellness spa in Alberta. Embracing a truly Canadian perspective on the Nordic way-to-wellness, the construction, architecture and ethos is inspired by the invigorating elements of the great outdoors of our wonderful country. Spanning 50,000 square feet of contemporary indoor-outdoor space, Kananaskis Nordic Spa is purposefully designed to encourage an effortless connection to nature, attracting those seeking equal parts stimulation, recuperation and balance.

With five outdoor pools, six saunas and steam cabins, an exfoliation cabin, massage treatment rooms, outdoor fire pits and hammocks, along with the Two Trees Bistro, guests of the spa are treated to an extraordinary experience of relaxation, and rejuvenation, in a stunning mountain setting.

During their visit to the spa, guests are encouraged to follow three to four circuits of the hydrotherapy cycle, using a combination of the hot and cold pools to truly experience the full benefits of hydrotherapy. Hot, cold rest, repeat, is the mantra, born of the ancient Nordic wisdom behind the invigorating wellness benefits.

“Our new partnership will play a key role in continuing to create competitive curling opportunities for Alberta’s athletes at the local, provincial, and national levels,” said Curling Alberta Executive Director, Jill Richard. “We are connected through a shared commitment to health and wellness. We look forward to seeing this partnership grow and evolve.”

The team at the Kananaskis Nordic Spa extends their congratulations and good wishes to 2023 Masters Men’s Champion, Team White, and to Masters Women’s Champion, Team Santos. Both teams will represent Alberta at the Canadian Masters Curling Championships April 3rd – 9th, at the Thistle-St. Andrew’s Curling Club in Saint John, New Brunswick.

The Kananaskis Nordic Spa looks forward to welcoming Curling Alberta’s members, athletes and fans to the Kananaskis Valley. Details on booking an unforgettable and one-of-a-kind spa experience can be found at  https://knordicspa.com/
