Announcement: NEW ONLINE GAME UMPIRE COURSE
Curling Canada has recently announced that the Game Umpire course is moving to an online learning platform. The online course is available to those that are Certified Time Clock Operators, having previously completed the online time clock course and practical requirements.
To ensure Alberta umpires are well trained and set up for success at sanctioned officiated events, in partnership with Curling Canada, Curling Alberta will be adding a mandatory in-person Skills Review to follow the online umpire course. The Skills Review will be a full-day practical review of the course.
GAME UMPIRE (Previously LEVEL 2):
- Prerequisites:Â Certified Time Clock Operator/Observer (includes online course and practical requirements)
- Curling Canada’s Game Umpire online course: $50/person. Register here.
- Current Umpires can take refresher training for $25.00. Register Here
- Curling Alberta’s In-Person Skills Review: $60/person, includes ice-access and rule book.
- Certified umpires may audit Curling Alberta’s Skill Review free of charge but must register. Contact [email protected] to express interest in auditing the course.
- Practical Requirements: must serve as a Game Umpire and/or Chief Timer at a Provincial Championship for a minimum of 6 games under the direction of a certified Chief Umpire Level 3 or higher. Click HERE for the Practical Component Form.
