ROCKING THE HOUSE – Club Development Update – August 13

For Curling Club Managers & Board Members
I hope you’re enjoying the summer and that preparations for the 2026-27 curling season are well underway.
This week’s update includes the recording of our recent Alberta Safe Sport Complaint Mechanism (ABSSCM) webinar, an introduction to our new preferred insurance provider and Supplemental Personal Sport Accident Insurance program, details regarding the upcoming Curling Alberta AGM, preferred member club pricing through our new partnership with Big Print Signs, and a number of resources and opportunities to support your club as you prepare for another great season.
Please note: I was away on holidays and, due to the WestJet labour disruption, was unable to send last week’s Rocking the House update. Thank you for your understanding and your patience with me.
Happy curling preparations! 🥌

📝 Updated Participant Waivers for the 2026-27 Season
As part of our ongoing commitment to safe sport and alignment with provincial requirements, Curling Alberta has updated its participant waivers for the 2026-27 season to include information regarding the Alberta Safe Sport Complaint Mechanism (ABSSCM).
These updated waivers help ensure participants are informed about available safe sport reporting pathways and support our collective efforts to foster a safe, respectful, and accountable curling environment across Alberta.
For Clubs Using Curling I/O
The updated waivers have already been added to the Curling I/O registration platform. To activate them, click the blue “New Waiver” button, select the 2026-27 Adult Waiver and 2026-27 Youth Waiver, and deactivate any previous versions currently in use.
For Clubs Not Using Curling I/O
Attached updated waivers are attached for inclusion in your club’s registration process for the upcoming season.
Using the updated waiver forms helps ensure participants are aware of Alberta’s safe sport framework and the reporting mechanisms available to them.
If you have any questions regarding the implementation of the updated waivers or the Alberta Safe Sport Complaint Mechanism, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
